FIRE Calculator
Give freedom a number—and a date. See when your savings could make full-time work optional.
FIRE (Financial Independence, Retire Early) starts with one number: roughly 25x your annual spending. That is the portfolio size that can support you indefinitely at a 4% withdrawal rate. This calculator finds yours.
Four flavors, one tool. Standard FIRE covers all your spending. Coast FIRE finds when you can stop contributing and let growth finish the job. Barista FIRE adds part-time income. Lean FIRE trims the target for a simpler life.
Drag the sliders and watch your freedom date move in real time. Small changes — a bigger contribution, a slightly lower spending target — can buy back years.

Quick answers
What is the 4% rule?
A rule of thumb: withdrawing 4% of your portfolio per year has historically lasted 30+ years. So your FIRE number is roughly 25 times your annual spending.
What is Coast FIRE?
The point where your current savings will grow to your full FIRE number by traditional retirement age with no further contributions. Work becomes optional-ish — the calculator shows your coast milestone.
Are the returns guaranteed?
Not at all — markets bounce around. This is a planning sketch, not a promise. Conservative return assumptions are your friend.
What counts as ‘invested savings’?
Stocks, bonds, index funds — money working for you. Not your emergency fund or your home equity.
